Dr. Barry Hardy is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Edelweiss Connect. In NanoCommons he is the deputy leader of WP1 and is involved in Work Packages 2, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12.
Dr. Hardy has led development efforts towards technology solutions for data management, integration and sharing, computational chemistry and toxicology, internet-based conferencing, tutor supported e-learning, and laboratory automation systems. Within OpenTox, eNanoMapper and OpenRiskNet, he has been/is leading the development of an open, interoperable, semantic web platform whose goal is to satisfy the needs of safety assessment through the creation of applications linking resources together for data, algorithms, models and ontologies. Also, within the current projects he is motivating an international collaboration to develop an open, robust, well-maintained computer platform and ontology for this field, supporting the reliable use of data and concepts required for integrated analysis. Dr Hardy is the co-chair of the U.S.-EU NanoEHS CoR on databases and computer modeling and he is actively involved in international community building activities in the area of nanosafety.
Dr. Hardy obtained his Ph.D. in 1990 from Syracuse University working in the area of computational chemistry, biophysics and computer- aided molecular modelling and drug design.
